Milan,
I don’t appreciate the way you treated me while I visited. It seemed as though you tried in every way possible to push my buttons. You messed with my money, sent mosquitoes to me to suck my blood, screwed up my train schedule therefore outing me more money, overcharged me for food, took my internet away and my phone minutes, poured on me the one time I had no umbrella, stole away my chance to see Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper, and you didn’t allow me to sleep.
Although I am angry and will never return, at least you had a few good things to offer…
Sightseeing in Milan
Duomo di Milano…
- Gorgeous gothic cathedral, actually the largest in Italia.
- The cathedral took six centuries to build and if you go inside you will understand why.
- Here are some pictures to show you!

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II…
- I’m not big into designer brands but it’s definitely the place to buy a Prada or Gucci bag!
- Located to the left of the Duomo.
The Teatro alla Scala…
- The famous opera house designed and constructed in 1778 by Giuseppe Piermarini.
- Located just at the end of the Emanuele.
Cenacolo Vinciano…
- Viewing gallery for seeing Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper painting.
- Be sure to make reservations at least a month in advance!
Eating in Milan
Aster Coffee…
- A long awaited iced coffee in an unnecessarily fancy cocktail glass… Still an iced coffee though, yummy!

Panino Giusto…
- Delicious panini’s and french fries here!
- My favorite sandwich was the Zorba; eggplant, tomato sauce, pesto and mozzarella.
- Best of all is that they have free, unlimited wifi!

NEXT STOP: Bern, Switzerland (thank goodness!)

That’s too bad about your Milan trip. I had a great time there. I saw my first opera at La Scala and loved the music since. The only thing that drove me crazy was all of the dog poop everywhere, no one picked up after their dogs. Is it still like that?
Posted by georgefloreswrite | February 16, 2013, 5:18 pmI don’t remember dog poop! Maybe they started regulating – or at least I hope they did! That’s gross. If I would have seen the opera I bet it would have changed my mind a bit… I love music that makes your hair rise; I feel like the opera would do that.
Posted by lexiejrunge1410 | February 18, 2013, 10:24 amThank God they stopped with the dog poop, it was pretty terrible.
I think you would have changed your mind, too. It was SRO and I had to stand in the back, but I started crying like a baby when the opera got emotional and a nice Italian man let me have his seat. Something about it reminds me of how to get a dog howling, if you strike the right pitch you get a sympathetic responding howl. Somehow they’ve twined music and emotion. If you like your music moody, you should give it a try
Posted by georgefloreswrite | February 18, 2013, 5:17 pmSorry you had a bad experience! I lived there for 5 years and, although Milan is not your quintessential Italian city (pretty and warm and welcoming) I had a ball. It takes a while to open up. Kind of like LA, where I live now. Best pizza is in Naples though – followed by Rome…
